If you’re like me, you’re always misplacing your glasses. And when you can’t find them, it’s the worst. But don’t worry, I’ve got some tips on how to find lost glasses at home.
Look in common places first
Before you start tearing your house apart, look in all the places where you would typically keep your glasses. If you don’t find them there, expand your search to other common places, such as:
-The place where you were last using them
-Anywhere they would be safe from harm, like a nightstand or end table
-A place where they would be out of the way, like a countertop or windowsill
-Your purse, backpack, or briefcase
-A friend’s house or another place you’ve been recently
If you still can’t find your glasses, it’s time to start searching less likely places.
Check all the places you’ve been since you last had them
Assuming you don’t have a superpower like Superman that allows you to see through walls, the first place you should look for your lost glasses is the last place you remember having them. If you don’t remember where that was, think about all the places you’ve been since you last had them. Take a mental walkthrough of your steps and try to retrace your steps. If that doesn’t work, move on to the next method.
Check places where you typically take them off
Search for your lost glasses in all the places where you would typically take them off, such as by your bed, in the bathroom, or at your desk. If you have readers for close-up tasks, check those spots too. Ask yourself if there’s anywhere else you frequently take your glasses off.
If you still can’t find them, try expanding your search to other areas of your home where you spend a lot of time, such as the living room or kitchen. You may also want to check any outdoor areas you frequent, such as the front porch or backyard.
Check places where you put things down
Most people misplace their glasses by putting them down in a place where they’re not used to seeing them. To find your glasses, start by checking all the places where you typically put things down when you get home, such as the kitchen counter, coffee table, or end table. You may also want to check any place where you were working or relaxing just before you realized your glasses were missing. If you still can’t find your glasses, try retracing your steps from the last time you remember having them.
Narrow down the search area
If you’ve lost your glasses at home, the first step is to narrow down the search area. If you were last wearing them in the living room, for example, start by checking all surfaces in that room — including under furniture cushions and behind lamps.
If you don’t find them there, move on to other rooms where you typically spend time, such as the kitchen, bathroom or bedroom. It may also be helpful to think about any recent activities you were doing when you had your glasses on — such as reading in bed or working at a certain desk — and check those areas as well.
Use a flashlight
If you’ve lost your glasses at home, the best way to find them is to use a flashlight. Start by checking the rooms where you were last using them. If you still can’t find them, try doing a systematic search of your whole house, going from room to room and checking all the likely places they could be.
Another good strategy is to ask everyone in your household if they’ve seen them. If all else fails, you can try looking for them outside, but be sure to check all around your house first – it’s much easier to find lost glasses that are close by!
Try a app or online lost and found
Before you start tearing your house apart, try using a lost and found service. There are a few different ways to go about this. You can use a lost and found app, an online lost and found, or even a physical lost and found.
If you want to use an app, there are a few different options. One option is to use the Find My Device app from Google. This app is designed to help you find your lost phone, but it can also be used to find other devices, like your glasses. Just log in with your Google account and then activate the device location feature. Once that’s done, you should be able to see your glasses on a map.
Another option is to use theTileapp. This app works similarly to the Find My Device app, but it’s specifically designed for finding lost items. Just attach a Tile tracker to your glasses (or any other item that you want to track) and then you’ll be able to see the last known location of your glasses on a map.
If you prefer not to use an app, you can try using an online lost and found service. One option is to tryLostMyKeys . This is a free online service that allows you to register your lost item and then post a description of it. People who find your item can then contact you directly so that you can arrange for its return.
Finally, if you’re still having no luck, you can try checking with your localLost & Found . These are usually run by police departments or other government organizations, and they may have items that have been turned in by Good Samaritans.
Check with your eye doctor
If you have an appointment coming up, ask the office to check for your lost glasses. The staff may be able to find them during your appointment or may be able to tell you where they last saw them.
In some cases, your eye doctor may have a lost and found for glasses that have been left behind in the office.
